![]() ![]() ![]() He is both a professional and a ready friend, if you will let him. He helped arrange a well priced, non-touristy hotel, a professional guide, looked for vegetarian restaurants for us and generally went out of his way to serve us. He was ever ready to go the extra mile to make our time in his home turf, with or without him, a great experience. His prices were reasonable, his car clean and, most noticeably, his energy always positive. We can highly recommend Saeed! He was always on time and very available for last minute changes or requests. ![]() The next day we used him again to arrange a days outing from Shiraz to Persepolis and the nearby royal tombs which was a dream day! After Shiraz we hired him again to get to Meymand and stop of on the way to visit a small, very ancient mosque. Turns out they were returning to Shiraz the day we were headed there, so we ended up riding with them, this time hiring Saeed for the full day trip, including a tour of Pasargad with its ruins and Tomb of Cyrus the Great, along the way. Hanging out with them, touring, listening to stories, lots of local music (which Saeed happily translated for us), eating etc., and just sharing one another's company until late at night, we quickly became a happy, multicolored travel quartet. His guide companion spoke less English, but with the two of them collaborating, we quickly got to be fully immersed into Iran in the most relaxed and fun way. Saeed, the driver, spoke really great English and was super charming and full of eagerness to share, learn and enjoy our time together. They had their own car and we were very happily surprised that the two of us would get to ride with them, instead of having to squeeze into a single car with six people. Turns out the local guide who had organized our private day tour, also had a couple of colleagues along from Shiraz, a driver and a guide, who were in town for work. Pasargad, and then for a long haul trip to Meymand, the cave village towards Kashan.Īctually we kind of fell into it naturally while going touring near Yazd with another European couple we met in the hotel. We did this once to visit the surroundings of beautiful Yazd, again for Shiraz During our recent 3 weeks exploration and scout of Iran, my girlfriend and I (I'm a travel professional based in Rome) had intended using only busses for our long- and medium distance travel, but changed our mind to allow us to see some gems off the beaten path. ![]()
